Scope roadmap
ArcPath Sourcing steel building procurement roadmap
ArcPath Sourcing is an independent sourcing partner. This roadmap is a scope file, not an environmental pledge and not a brand history. It lists decisions that should be closed, or explicitly left open, before a buyer considers an alternative steel building acceptable.

Scope tables
| Geometry | Length and width in ft or m, eave height, clear span, bay spacing, roof slope. |
|---|---|
| Wind | Design wind speed in mph and wind exposure category, plus enclosure classification if known. |
| Snow and seismic | Ground snow load in psf and seismic design category. Leave blank rather than invent a national default. |
| Other loads | Design live load, collateral load, and crane reactions if a runway is even a maybe. |
| Envelope | Target thermal transmittance or R-value, and any fire-resistance rating the occupancy discussion has already raised. |
| Frame | Primary frame and secondary framing, including purlins and girts, marked included or excluded. |
|---|---|
| Enclosure | Sheeting or insulated metal panel, trim, doors, and openings. |
| Shell versus broader scope | State shell, delivered, installed, or turnkey in words the quotation also uses. |
| Site work | Foundation interface, anchor bolts, slab, utilities, and permits named as buyer or supplier work. |
| Quantity | Number of buildings or modules, and whether they are identical. |
|---|---|
| Destination | ZIP or port, site restrictions, and unloading responsibility. |
| Transport envelope | For volumetric pieces, travel size. For frames, longest member the route allows. |
| Timing | Requested window and whether partial shipments are acceptable. This is a request, not a confirmed date. |
| Drawings | Anchor bolt plan, frame elevations, and reactions for the quoted geometry. |
|---|---|
| Calculations | Load basis matching the criteria table, ready for the project reviewer. |
| Fabrication notes | Steel grade and coating mass, for example Grade 50 with a stated metallic coating, plus weld practice such as AWS D1.1 tied to the members sold. |
| Plant statements | Any ISO 9001 or IAS AC472 remark must name the plant. It is not adopted as a credential of ArcPath Sourcing. |
Items to request, not files we host
Nothing in this list is a downloadable certificate from this desk. Each row is a question to place in the brief so the supplier, not a homepage, answers it.
Geometry pack
- Footprint, eave height, clear span, and bay spacing on one sketch.
- Door and opening schedule with rough sizes.
- Note of future expansion bays, if any.
Load pack
- Wind speed, exposure, ground snow load, seismic design category.
- Collateral and crane notes, including none if none.
- Code edition the buyer wants the quoter to assume, or unknown.
Commercial pack
- Scope label and a written exclusion list.
- Optional USD budget with per-building or whole-order basis.
- Supplier preference: premium, mid-range, budget, or undecided.

Specification choices
When is a standard bay the wrong shortcut?
If the site wind speed, ground snow load, or clear span sits outside the bay the supplier used as a sample, the sample price is only a conversation starter. Ask for a recalculation rather than scaling by area.
How should volumetric and panelized options share a matrix?
Put transport envelope, crane lift plan, site labor, and finish level in rows that both options must fill. Volumetric modules can include more offsite finish but require a workable travel and lift plan; panelized construction packs smaller components but leaves more assembly and weather exposure on site. Compare the final installed scope before choosing either route.
Accepting an alternative
What has to be true before an alternative replaces the reference search?
The buyer should see the deviations in frame type, enclosure, code assumptions, and responsibility. Hot-rolled and cold-formed members, different purlin spacing, or a missing foundation design are deviations, not silent equivalents.
Who signs the deviation?
The buyer names an owner for each open engineering, permitting, and commercial question. Compare the supplier proposal revision against the criteria sheet and obtain a written answer for every deviation. The project professional reviews engineering changes; the buyer approves commercial scope. This desk records open questions and does not accept deviations on the buyer’s behalf.
Send the scope that is known today
Unknown loads can be labeled unknown. The useful mistake to avoid is a single total that hides shell, freight, and installation inside one figure.
